So what are Instagram Highlights?
Instagram highlights are collections of your Instagram Stories that you choose to display on your profile beyond the usual 24-hour lifespan of Stories.
Highlights are really important for entrepreneurs and influencers.
Let’s say you are a fashion influencer and you just posted a spring haul on your stories with affiliate links to allow your followers buy each clothing item. Your Instagram story disappears after 24 hours. But when you save the story to your highlights, guess what? They appear as circular icons below your profile bio and people can see them over and over and over again.
Instagram highlights are a great way to make new visitors to your account know the content of your account. Their prime location makes them the first thing users see. This prominent placement ensures your content gets noticed easily. Some other benefits include:

- Effective marketing tool

What are Instagram highlight covers?
Now Instagram highlight covers are small, circular images that act like mini labels, giving viewers a hint about the content within the Highlight. Above is an example from one of my favourite fashion and travel influencers. If you want to create something similar, I’ve got many classy options for you below.
How do you add a cover to your Instagram highlight?
- Go to your profile page and tap on a Highlight.
- Select “Edit Highlight” at the bottom.
- Tap “Edit Cover.”
- Choose an existing photo from your camera roll or use the text tool within Instagram Stories to create a cover.
- Resize and position your chosen image or text as desired.
- Tap “Done” to save your cover.

How to download
- On mobile – press on the image you want, and click save to photos
- On a PC – right click the image you want and save to your computer.
